About

Devin Jones is a bluegrass guitarist hailing from Fredericksburg, Virginia. With an ear for deeply nuanced melodicism his improvisation is at the forefront of modern Americana stringband music while maintaining a strong reverence for the Appalachian traditions that surrounded his youth. An absorbing and thoughtful practitioner within the folk idiom, Jones's playing is indicative of the greats that came before him such as Bryan Sutton and Chris Eldridge. Since 2021 Jones has been touring internationally having played and studied with bluegrass titans including but not limited to, Billy Strings, Jake Workman, The Mountaingrass Unit, Michael Daves, Bryan Sutton, Chris Eldrige and Kenny Smith. He has toured with the critically acclaimed Wyatt Ellis band and is currently a member of Liam Purcel and Cane Mill Road. Devin can be seen performing at festivals such as Rocky Grass, Merle Fest, IBMA world of bluegrass, Westport Bluegrass festival (In Ireland), Blueberry Fest (Canada), and many others. In 2025 Jones was selected to judge the prestigious IBMA guitar competition alongside players such as Luke Black, and Kyser George. Currently studying at the Berklee college of music as a recipient of the World Tour scholarship, the Fletcher Bright scholarship (featured in a Bluegrass Today Article), the Bruce Molsky scholarship, and most recently a Guitar Performance scholarship; Jones is amongst a new generation of cutting edge bluegrass musicians that are reshaping the genre and redefining what it means to be a practitioner of the folk tradition.
